Found only in New Zealand’s south island these
animals are usually hunted in conjunction with Tahr. An exciting hunt
in the grandeur of the Southern Alps. A Trophy that graces any Trophy
room, the Chamois is highly regarded as a must have in the collection
of most International Hunters. Living high in mountains this can be a
very challenging hunt. The hunting of chamois on foot requires a high
level of physical fitness and the ability to shoot at extended ranges.
The alternative that is most commonly adopted is the use of a
helicopter to gain access to the tops and then hunt on foot. For those
on a limited time schedule or for those not in a high physical
condition this is the most sensible approach.
