In Victoria, Hog Deer stags can be hunted free range on several private properties. Hog Deer stags are a highly desirable trophy. Australia is one of the few places in the world where hunters can obtain these rare and elusive trophies.

In South Australia all hunts are restricted to the Water Valley Game Reserve.  The number of Hog Deer are limited, but several fine trophies have been collected in the recent past.
